What is Counselling?

Counselling (a form of talking therapy) provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. As your therapist, I will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.

I will not give you my opinion or advice or prescribe medication. Instead I will work with you to help you find your own solutions – whether that’s making effective changes in your life or finding ways of coping with your problems.

Your therapy will take place during planned, regular sessions which last for around 50 minutes. How many appointments you have will depend on your individual circumstances. We can discuss this when we first talk and we will always review every 6 weeks.

Between us, we will agree a working contract. I will send you a copy of this if we are happy to have a first session together - this will offer more information about our way of working and provides you with the opportunity to ask any further quesions you might have.

Taking the first step is often the hardest, if you would like to make an appointment with me, or just find out a bit more about how I can help you, please do get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
